When your not your NOT

Well another fruitless end to a seemingly entertaining season. The Hocks lost in the first round of playoffs 3-2 to an inspired team Blue. Sending us all home with a very bitter taste in our mouth. Game Misconduct stole the whole show once more proving that they need to be moved out of our division to get a taste of humility. They defeated Blue 6-4.........which I'm very surprised was that close.

As far as what I saw.......we just shot ourselves in the foot. Not reacting quickly enough in the first period in which we should have sent a defencemen up to O while we waited for a replacement wore out our long term aggression and we let them skate around us. I think that's enough said on that though........and it will probably be something we never do again. Lesson learned.

Over all though........not a bad game. We had some good chances that we could have capitalized on if their goalie would have made just the tiniest of mistakes. But he was pretty solid when we did attack. And when everyone had energy in the tank in the first & second, we showed a lot of attack and aggressive defence and kept the game tied at 1-1 for quite some time. We just never got into a rhythm and lacked an over all team chemistry....something we truly need if we ever hope to win another championship. Something that only comes when a team practices.....I believe. But in any case........we tried our best and if it truly mattered, to win that is, none of us would keep returning. Instead, we all seem to keep coming back which tells me that this team wins every single season. Because mark my words Team Misconduct will blow up eventually and we'll win championships years after they're all in jail!

Chucks take...

Well boys, it was a good game for us after being off for a week. We played hard from start to finish and we haven't been able to do that in few games now. But I must say luck was on are side last night for sure, when I can bat a puck out of the air for a goal... you know thing are going good.

Not put anyone down or game we played down but here were some thing I saw out there;

The Good:
We came out at full speed and never looked back.
We didn’t take any penalty's.
Shifts were short and seem to be consistent.
Goal scoring came from both lines.

The Bad:
Passing was off all game, we ether didn't make a good pass to the open man or we didn’t let him know the puck was coming to him, or he didn’t look for it ether.
We didn’t attack as a team very much. I must stress this again, we must use all 4 player working together up & down the floor. I know we have enough talent to win most games on skill alone, but it’s a bad habit to get into.

The Ugly:
Boys… here are the latest stats:
Were in 2nd place with 9pts and a 4-3-1 standings.
Are goal difference is (-1) this is bad for us, were normally around a (+10)

We're never one of the top teams in goal scoring but, to be in 5th place out of 6 team isn’t something to be happy about ether.

Goal against were in 3rd place. This has always been are strength on this team and we should be in 1st place.

Drills at UCI for Sat May 6th, 2006 10am

Saturday's practice will begin at 10am with some die hards showing up at 9:30 to get a little extra work in. Note - Those who show up early should NOT over do it so they can last through the whole practice.

The basic agenda will be to get in a few warm up laps without sticks, alternating between forward and backward. Then some light passing drills (like we have before).

Then we start into these drills:
Passing = Passing Warm Up
Offensive Drill = Give and Go (or a variation of this)
Defensive Drill = D to D Outlet

And finish with some sprints.

Once again here is a map to the rink at UCI. Please make sure to ZOOM out using the tool on the left hand side of the map window. I will not provide written directions because they are inferior!

Reformat.....

Just made some adjustments to the blog layout. Exapaned the view outward and then expanded the 'posting' (yeller) section so that you don't have to scroll down for 20 minutes to read the posts!
